GPA Calculator — Weighted Grade Point Average

Grade Point Average (GPA) is the standard measure of academic performance used by colleges, universities, and employers worldwide. Our GPA calculator computes your cumulative weighted GPA by taking into account both the grade you earned in each course and the number of credit hours that course is worth — giving a more accurate picture of your overall academic standing than a simple average.

This tool supports three common grading scales: the traditional 4.0 scale used by most US institutions, the 4.33 scale used by some universities that award A+ grades additional weight, and a raw percentage scale for international students or institutions that grade out of 100.

How GPA is Calculated

Your cumulative GPA is a credit-weighted average. The formula is:

GPA = Σ(Grade Points × Credits) ÷ Σ(Total Credits)

A 3-credit course with an A (4.0) contributes 12 quality points. A 4-credit course with a B (3.0) contributes 12 quality points as well — but takes up more credits. This is why a high-credit course has more impact on your GPA than a 1-credit lab.
